A Gower College Swansea student has been awarded the title of Dental Practice Manager of the Year.
Kirsty White, who works at the Hickman House practice in Penarth, completed the Level 5 CMI in Management and Leadership course with GCS Training via distance learning due to her full time work commitments.
“My trainer, Michelle Corker, reassured me that this was achievable and that she was always at the end of the telephone if I needed her.” says Kirsty. “As it was, I completed the course in just eight months and am now considering the CMI Level 7 in Strategic Management as my next step. I really hope that other full time managers can see that there is potential to continue their education alongside their careers in order to improve themselves and their organisations. I never imagined I would attain a degree, let alone a potential Masters, and a massive part of this success is the encouragement and positive reinforcement Michelle has provided me.”
“Kirsty has had an amazing year - in September her organisation was also named the Best Dental Team at the Welsh Dentistry Awards,” says Michelle. “Everyone at GCS Training is very proud of Kirsty, she has worked incredibly hard to juggle all her commitments and deserves every bit of her success.”
Kirsty’s managers, Charlotte Lloyd and Mark Roach, are extremely proud of her.
“She has done really well to complete her qualification in such a short period of time,” they said. “Kirsty is an extremely well valued member of our team and all the knowledge gained from the course with GCS Training had been very useful for the running of the practice."
Kirsty will receive her award at the British Dental Association Conference in May 2017.
