Students at Gower College Swansea are celebrating after maintaining an excellent overall 98% pass rate at A Level, with 1738 separate exam entries.
Of these passes, 77% were at the higher grades of A*- C, 53% were at grades A*- B and 23% were at grades A* - A.
The overall pass rate at AS Level was 90%, with 63% of those passes being grades A-C and 43% being grades A or B. There were 3138 separate exam entries for AS.
“I’m delighted that we have maintained our excellent overall pass rate of 98% at A Level,” says Principal Mark Jones.
“Amongst the many impressive figures this year is that, at A Level, 67 students achieved straight A grades across the board whilst, at AS Level, that figure was 114.”
“We had 1738 separate exam entries at A Level in 2016, an increase of more than 12% - or an extra 190 individual entries – on 2015.”
“Based on these results, we also anticipate that eight of our students will be starting at an Oxbridge university this September.”
“Congratulations to our students who have worked exceptionally hard to produce these exam results and we now wish them well as they progress into university and employment. Congratulations and thanks must also go to our lecturers, who support these students throughout the year and whose contribution to today’s success stories must be acknowledged.”
