Gower College Swansea has appointed a new Curriculum Leader for A Level Music and he is a very familiar face within the local music community.
Jonathan Rogers, a former student of the College, is currently Head of Music in Penyrheol Comprehensive and has an excellent reputation as conductor, arranger, soloist and musical director.
“We are delighted that Jonathan is joining us at the Gorseinon campus,” says David Lloyd Jones, Learning Area Manager for Creative Arts. “Since graduating from the college he has built up an extremely impressive CV. As Musical Director of the Dunvant Male Choir and the Swansea Philharmonic, he has worked with top artists at prestigious venues across the UK. He and his wife have also founded the Gorseinon Youth Choir which provides excellent opportunities for local young people.”
Jonathan will take up his new position in November.
“I am delighted to be joining the team of staff at Gower College Swansea," he says. "It is an exciting opportunity to further develop the high standards of achievement in AS/A2 Music and also to rejuvenate the extracurricular programme that the college offers. As an active professional musician in the local area, I hope to provide numerous performance and composition opportunities for our students and make music-making at the college available to all – not just students undertaking music courses.”
