A Gower College Swansea student was awarded a bronze award for his Patisserie skills in the final of the Skills Wales Patisserie competition, held in Carmarthen on March 12th.
Edward Grove, 17, currently studying on the VRQ Level 2 Professional Cookery course at Gower College Swansea, baked against eight competitors, who each prepared a ‘sweet pastry apple flan’, ‘eight enriched buns’ and a ‘three layer strawberry gateau’ in three hours.
Mark Clement, Learning Area Manager for Hospitality said “The brief is extremely challenging, particularly when working with fresh cream and chocolate in a very hot kitchen! I am so pleased for Edward. He has shown great commitment and determination leading up to the competition. His practical skills have developed significantly over the past few weeks. He is a credit to the college.”
