Gower College Swansea students at the Broadway Hair, Beauty and Holistics Centre have been busy raising money for charity. The full time Level 3 Hairdressing students presented a cheque for over £300 to Lucia Smith from Maggie’s.
“The team at Maggie’s were delighted to receive a donation of £311.80 from the Broadway Centre”, she said. “Maggie’s offers emotional, practical and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends. At Maggie’s in Swansea we are now receiving up to 95 visitors a day and that number will continue to increase. We can only continue our free and professional service with donations from the public, so we are very appreciative that Gower College Swansea chose to support us."
Nicola Maddick, the Curriculum Leader for Level 3 Hairdressing, explained how the money had been raised: “The students had organised a promotional evening for a new hair product and all payments received were donated to Maggie’s, the charity of their choice. During the evening, there was a raffle to boost the funds, and coffee and cakes were also served. It was an enjoyable evening and we were pleased to be able to raise so much money for this charity.”
