College celebrates Swansea Council staff development success
Gower College Swansea was thrilled to mark the achievements of a recent cohort of learners from Swansea Council with a celebration event at Sketty Hall Business School.
The event marked the culmination of months of hard work and dedication, as participants were officially presented with their certificates after completing professional qualifications in Leadership and Management, Data Analytics and Housing.

This year, staff and students have had amazing opportunities to take part in international activity - funded by the TAITH Programme - to countries such as Canada, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands, with planned activities to Sweden and Kenya.
With Internationalism at the heart of our mission, the International Office has been very busy organising these visits and ensuring that GCS is a truly global College with international activities at the forefront for staff and learners.
Childcare lecturer wins national ‘best teacher’ award
A Childcare lecturer from Gower College Swansea has won the Learners’ Award for Best Teacher/Lecturer at the prestigious Professional Teaching Awards Cymru.
Rhian Evans received the accolade at a special awards ceremony at Soughton Hall, Flintshire, where the winners were announced by Cabinet Secretary for Education, Lynne Neagle MS.
It is the first time that the teaching awards have been opened up to include further education colleges as well as schools.
Llwyn y Bryn student’s work selected for London show
A student from Gower College Swansea has been selected by UAL Awarding Body to exhibit her work at Origins Creatives 2024.
Level 3 Photography student Evangeline Roberts, who studies at the Llwyn y Bryn Campus, has been selected to exhibit her work at Origins Creatives, taking place at the Mall Galleries, London, in July.
Evangeline’s submission, titled Say It With Flowers, caught the attention of UAL Awarding Body’s curator, Charlie Levine, amongst over 500 submissions.

At the end of another very busy academic year, Gower College Swansea held its annual summer Staff Wellbeing Day on 4 July.
Teaching and support staff were able to relax and take part in a wide variety of activities this year including golf, shamanic healing, gardening, cold water therapy, yoga and printmaking.
They were also able to gain free advice on a range of issues such as legal matters, HRT, general health and fitness, and the College’s Cycle to Work scheme.

Around 50 A Level students at Gower College Swansea recently attended a special hustings event at the Gorseinon campus which allowed them the opportunity to ask questions of their local constituency candidates.
