Overview

This qualification teaches learners how to implement and manage data engineering workloads on Microsoft Azure, using Azure services such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Databricks and others.

It focuses on common data engineering tasks such as orchestrating data transfer and transformation pipelines, working with data files in a data lake, creating and loading relational data warehouses, capturing and aggregating streams of real time data, as well as tracking data assets and lineage.

Learners will be provided with the means and post-delivery support to undertake the Microsoft DP203 exam, and to achieve DP203 certified status.

Sitting the DP203 exam is a requirement of the qualification funding, and all participants will be expected to share the exam outcome with Gower College Swansea.

Key information

Learners must have solid knowledge of data processing languages, including SQL, Python and Scala.

Learners will also need to understand parallel processing and data architecture patterns, as well as be proficient in using the following to create data processing solutions:

  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Stream Analytics
  • Azure Event Hubs
  • Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Azure Databricks

  • Introduction to Data Engineering on Azure
  • Introduction to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
  • Introduction to Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Use Azure Synapse serverless SQL pool to query files in a data lake
  • Create a lake database in Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Use Delta Lake in Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Analyse data in a relational data warehouse and many more!
