A first for GCS Training

Timothy Hewitt has become the first GCS Training student to achieve CMI Chartered Manager status.

Tim started as a part time student at Sandringham Park where he embarked on a Level 3 ILM Management qualification. He felt that, as a Minister in the Church in Wales, he needed to develop himself in the field of management and leadership due to the role and responsibilities he had within the Church for the Parish and the volunteers.

Science Academy gets off to a rock and roll start!

Gower College Swansea’s Science Academy got off to a rocking start when Dr Mark Lewney visited the Gorseinon campus.

‘Rock Doctor’ Lewney, winner of the first ever FameLab competition, is a guitar physicist who blows the ears with rock guitar and blows the mind with superstring theory.

The Science Academy, which is partly funded through the Reaching Wider project, will run every other week at the Gorseinon campus and at various times throughout the year at Tycoch.
