Seven Gower College Swansea students have been awarded sports scholarships for the 2015/2016 academic year.
The students are:
- Rugby - James Ratti, who is studying A Levels in Maths, PE and Economics
- Netball - Paige Murphy, who is studying A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology
- Hockey - Sarah-Jayne Thorburn, who is studying A Levels in Maths, PE, French and Economics, and Rhian Lewis, who is studying A Levels in History, PE and English Literature
- Cricket - Tomas Davies, who is studying A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and Jack Todd, who is taking the Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Sport
- Football - Luke Harries, who is studying a Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Sport
“Our sports scholarship programme provides financial and holistic support to students who have demonstrated exceptional ability within one of our designated academy sports,” says coordinator Marc O’Kelly. “In return, we expect our scholarship students to act as ‘role models’ within their peer group and support the academy coaches to deliver a sports programme of exceptional quality.”
