Adult Basic Education (ABE)

Learn English, Math, and Computer Skills

These Adult Basic Education courses help you get better at English, Math, and using computers. It can help you with your job, going to school, or just improving yourself.

Who is this for?

These courses are for anyone who wants to improve their skills in these areas. It doesn't matter if you want to help your kids with homework, get a better job, or learn something new.

What can you learn?

Computer skills: Learn how to use computers, phones, and tablets.

English: Improve your writing, speaking, and grammar.

Math: Understand your bills and learn how to get the best deals.

How does it work?

Free classes: The classes are free, but you need to meet some requirements.

Location: Classes are held at Llwyn y Bryn.

Teaching: Face-to-face classroom-based lessons.

Course length

The length of the course depends on the qualification. We'll let you know which one applies to you when you contact us.

  • AGORED Cymru: Classes are 2 hours per week for 10 weeks (for each subject).
  • City & Guilds Essential Skills Wales: Classes are 2 hours per week for 30 weeks (for each subject).

Assessment:

You will be assessed in different ways depending on the qualification. We'll let you know which one applies to you when you contact us.

AGORED Cymru: Mixture of coursework, portfolio building and completion of an Individual Learning Plan.

City & Guilds Essential Skills Wales: Mixture of written assessments, confirmatory tests and completion of an Individual Learning Plan.
