Overview
The Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice award is suitable for those working in internal quality assuring assessment practices, or wishing to gain an understanding of the principles and practice of quality assuring.
The qualification aims to provide underpinning knowledge and understanding, relating to the internal quality assurance of the assessment process. Learners will also be supported to utilise this knowledge by completing a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their competence as an internal quality assurer.
Key information
Learners will be required to be occupationally competent, experienced and/or qualified within the sector they are internally quality assuring.
Learners will also need to have been qualified and practicing assessors for at least one year before undertaking this qualification.
The qualification will be delivered in one day, which includes discussions and activities.

- The role of an internal quality assurer
- Carrying out and evaluating internal assessment and quality assurance systems
- Support of assessors (minimum of two years)
- Monitoring the quality of assessors’ performance
- How to meet external quality assurance requirements including liaison with external quality assurers
- Completion of the portfolio
Learners can progress from this qualification to additional learning and development awards or units.
At the end of the qualification, learners will have gained a nationally recognised qualification enabling them to work as a qualified internal quality assurer.
