Congratulations to our 2015 HE graduates!
Gower College Swansea students have attended a special graduation ceremony at the city’s National Waterfront Museum to celebrate the achievement of their higher education and professional qualifications.
Almost 100 students donned their cap and gowns to collect certificates in a range of disciplines including AAT Accounting, Engineering, Hair and Beauty, IT, Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Business, Sport and Leadership and Management.

A Digital Technology student from Gower College Swansea is getting ready to represent Wales at a four-day CISAAM shooting event at Bisley later this month.
Jordan Thomas, 16, who is following the Level 2 Digital Technology course at the Tycoch campus, has already achieved great success at competitions as part of the Dyfed and Glamorgan AFC.
Jordan has been a member of the Army Cadet Force for three years, progressing from a basic level to being qualified to use a L8582 - or GP - rifle.

Gower College Swansea, at the invitation of and in collaboration with, the University of Cambridge, is the “hub” institution in the Swansea HE+ Consortium, working with the seven state sixth-form schools in the area.

“Eiddwen is an amazing talent and it was our privilege to welcome her to the college, where she spent time with students who will soon be auditioning for highly competitive Conservatoire places across the UK,” says Learning Area Manager David Lloyd Jones.

Curtis Cana, a former award-winning student and Enterprise intern at Gower College Swansea, recently returned to the Tycoch campus to inspire the next generation of Health & Social Care students.
As well as being named the college's overall Health & Social Care Student of the Year in 2015, Curtis - who volunteered as a youth worker for the local authority for many years - was also nominated as a Swansea Bay Young Achiever in recognition of his youth support work in Blaenymaes.

Gower College Swansea has been awarded ‘Associate’ status by the Royal Society, the UK’s national science academy.
The Royal Society’s Associate Schools and Colleges scheme is a network of enthusiastic teachers who share their experience in order to help promote excellence in science and mathematics teaching.
Gower College Swansea Biology lecturer Amy Herbert was recently interviewed by the Royal Society for their September podcast during which she was asked about the college’s various STEM projects.

Big Ideas Role Model and multi-talented Welsh baritone Mark Llewellyn Evans delivered a day of workshops recently at the Broadway Centre.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for the new beauty therapists to gain an insight in the careers they could follow in the film and music industry," says the college's Enterprise Officer Lucy Turtle, who organised the event.

The deadline to enter BMAT examinations is midday today - 1st October 2015 - as previously notified. Late applications will not be accepted.
ENTRY APPLICATIONS FOR OTHER OXFORD AND CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITIES’ EXAMINATIONS:
The entry deadline for the above is midday on 9th October 2015. Forms are available from the Examinations Office in Gorseinon.
Accreditation for Computer Services team
Gower College Swansea has become the first organisation in Wales to have its Computer Services staff accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT.
This comes after a recent assessment of all technicians and technical staff within the department.
“The BCS has recognised that we are committed to promoting the professional development of our IT Technicians who, having each met the required standards, have successfully gained their professional accreditation,” says Computer Services Manager Richard Thorne.
