College establishes links with Alcanta Education
Gower College Swansea's International Manager Kieran Keogh has recently returned from a very successful business trip to China.
In Guangzhou, Kieran signed an A Level partnership agreement with Alcanta Education - after an introduction via The British Council - which will result in Gower College Swansea helping Alcanta to set up a Pre–A Level programme. Students who successfully complete this programme will then progress to the Gorseinon campus for their A Level studies.

Landlord Training Wales, a division of welfare services company A19 Secure Solutions, has partnered with Gower College Swansea to provide an in-class training course designed to help landlords secure the qualifications they will need by law to manage properties in Wales.
The classroom based training will be held at regular intervals and will complement online training courses offered by Landlord Training Wales, which is enjoying a surge in demand as the deadline for compliance creeps closer.

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Gower College Swansea joined forces to support the Phoenix Fun Day on Sunday 22 May.
This annual family-friendly event, which regularly attracts over 1,000 people, is managed by Creative Bubble at UWTSD and funded by the Widening Access Forum.
UWTSD organised marquees offering music, entertainment and free craft workshops. Students from the college’s Bridge Programme collaborated with UWTSD students on stewarding duties and also helped out with some workshops.

Gowerton pupils taking part in the Kick Start Programme at Gower College Swansea held a Frosty Friday at the Gorseinon campus - selling Joe's ice cream as part of their Enterprise qualification.
“This was an opportunity for the pupils to put their theory into action," says lecturer Lucy Turtle, who organised the event alongside Kick Start Ambassador Curtis Cana. "They had put an awful lot of planning into this - creating a business plan, carrying out market research and working out the amount of profit they can make for Gowerton School.”

The Cardiff City FC Foundation and Gower College Swansea have each won a £35,000 share of NatWest’s £2.5million Skills and Opportunities Fund.
Both were chosen by public vote to benefit from the fund, which supports organisations in disadvantaged communities that help people develop, create or access the skills and opportunities they need to get into work or start a business.

A group of Digital Technology students from Gower College Swansea have competed in a WorldSkills competition, held at the Tycoch campus in association with Semta and Premier EDA Solutions.
It was an intensive day with four main parts to the competition: a soldering/construction exercise; a theory paper; a prototype challenge using a breadboard and a software programming test.
The winners were named as Kieran Belton (Gold), Cody Wilks (Silver) and Ryan Thomas (Bronze).

Paul Durden, the co-writer of Twin Town, delivered a recent workshop to Vocational Studies students at Gower College Swansea as part of their media qualification.
During his visit to the Tycoch campus, Mr Durden discussed the making of the film and the different type of job roles involved in its production.
Twin Town is a 1997 British crime drama filmed in Swansea and starring real-life brothers Rhys Ifans (in his first major movie role) and Llŷr Ifans along with Dougray Scott.

Bishop Gore School pupils organised a recent enterprise event at Gower College Swansea as part of their Kick Start qualification.
The concept behind 'Hot Diggity Dog' was to make and sell hot dogs to staff and students at the Tycoch campus in order to raise money for Llys Nini Animal Centre.
