College Netball Academy joins Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay
Members of Gower College Swansea's Netball Academy team took part in the recent Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay in Swansea.
As winners of a Swansea Sports Award in 2016, the team were invited to accompany the Baton Bearer during Leg 6* of the Relay, which took place between Blackpill and the 360 Beach and Watersports Centre.

More GCS students heading to Russell Group universities
Students from Gower College Swansea are bucking the trend of two recent national reports.
The first, the figures released by the admissions body UCAS, showed that a quarter of Welsh constituencies have less than 25% of 18 year olds going to university – with Swansea West and Swansea East named as being under 25%, Gower only slightly above, and with Cardiff the highest at 47%.

This year, for the first time, Gower College Swansea held a Welcome Day for Welsh-speaking young people who have applied to start college in September. The aim of the day was to help new students become familiar with the campus, meet other Welsh speaking applicants, meet Welsh speaking staff, and learn about the Welsh language opportunities at college.

Gower College Swansea A / AS Level results 2017
Students at Gower College Swansea are celebrating an overall A Level pass rate of over 97%, with 1655 separate exam entries.
Of these passes, 82% were at the higher grades of A*- C, 56% were at grades A*- B and 27% were at grades A* - A – all strong percentage increases on our excellent 2016 results.
The overall pass rate at AS Level was 91%, with 65% of those passes being grades A-C and 44% being grades A or B – again, all strong percentage increases on 2016 results.
There were 3312 separate exam entries for AS.

£500 grant for local entrepreneur
The Swansea Seed Fund and C4EE - headed by Sue Poole, Enterprise Manager at Gower College Swansea - have awarded a £500 grant to a young man who has started his own security firm.
Jacob Stone started his security firm, Ozone Security, from the spare room of his Mumbles home when he was just a teen and opted to ditch studying to focus instead on his business, which now employs 15 permanent members of staff on a full time basis.

Nathaniel heads to 'top of the class'
Kick Start student Nathaniel Parker has steadily made his way to ‘top in the class’ at the Gorseinon campus.
The Kick Start Programme is an initiative developed by Gower College Swansea and aimed at Key Stage 4 students who enrol at college to complete a BTEC in Vocational Studies. It enables students to study a range of different pathways and gives them the opportunity to discover an area of interest that they could pursue on leaving school.
