Access to Engineering
Overview
A fast-track opportunity for anyone 19 years old or over to gain a recognised qualification that will allow access to university-level courses such as a HNC, HND or Degree in Engineering.
This one-year level 3 programme will give you the foundational skills in maths, science and engineering-related subject areas to progress into many types of engineering sectors, e.g. aeronautical, civil, chemical, biomedical, electrical, electronic, mechanical, motorsport or nuclear engineering.
Key information
Five GCSEs or the equivalent in maths-, English- and science-based subjects at grade C or above. Industry skills may be considered.
The course is delivered in 12 hours over 2.5 days per week. Delivery will be between 9.30am and 3.30pm and only during term time.
The course consists of academic (e.g. theoretical engineering, maths and science) and computer-based (e.g. CAD) modules, which are delivered face-to-face by a subject-specialist lecturer.
You will have access to a range of electronic resources and will be assigned a tutor to help support your learning and progression.
You will be continually assessed in every module with a mix of class tests, assignments and project work.

- Degree Apprenticeships in regional companies, such as the Degree Apprenticeship in Integrated Engineering
All course materials and Microsoft Office 365 are free.
You will need a scientific calculator, memory stick, study stationary and a laptop or device for remote working and communication with your lecturers.
