At Gower College Swansea, we are passionate about staff wellbeing as we value and care about our workforce and believe wellbeing is at the heart of championing better working lives.
We are proud that all of our managers are mental health first aiders and together with our Time to Talk champions, we are committed to removing the stigma around mental health.
We provide all our employees free access to Headspace, a meditation app and we have our own in-house Wellbeing Advisor who can deliver personalised support to colleagues.
We provide all our staff with a free confidential helpline to our employee assistance programme, Health Assured. Staff can access counselling, speak to a legal helpline or access a range of wellbeing support on their webpage.
The College has pledged its commitment to a number of initiatives we believe are important such as White Ribbon, Time to Talk and Menopause at Work.
This group is a passionate, committed and enthusiastic group of staff from across the College who are involved in raising awareness of the wellbeing initiatives and campaigns.
Each week staff have access to lots of complimentary activities such as fitness classes, hypnotherapy, sports massage, menopause cafes and one to one nutrition and exercise advice. We also offer a discounted membership to employees and their families at our sports centre.
Our annual wellbeing at work day in July is all about coming together as a staff community and joining in with wellbeing activities and having fun.
Finally, we are proud to be a finalist at The Princes Trust Business in the Community Wellbeing at Work Award 2021 and to have achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold Corporate Health Standards.
