British Sign Language and Deaf Awareness Level 1

Study everyday signs needed for British Sign Language. Learn about the importance of Deaf Awareness, good communication styles as well as signs needed to hold a simple conversation in British Sign Language. In this course, students will learn the basic concepts of Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language. Topics will include; Greetings, Hobbies, Weather, Transport, Food and Drink and Directions.

Course objectives:

• Understand the importance of good communication when working with the Deaf Community 
• Develop skills needed to hold an everyday conversation in British Sign Language 
• Take part in three filmed conversations using British Sign Language.
