Students on Gower College Swansea’s specialist one year acting course will soon take to the stage under the direction of actor Richard Mylan.
A familiar face on national television, Richard’s credits include Waterloo Road, Casualty, Doctors, My Family, Bad Girls and Silent Witness. He also has numerous theatre credits to his name, including Starlight Express in London’s West End.
“Everyone involved with the Acting Company is incredibly excited to be working with Richard,” says lecturer Wyn Richards. “He came to see Under the Spotlight, their performance showcase, and has since led a practical workshop with the students, which was an incredibly positive experience.”
“We are all looking forward to starting rehearsals in January,” adds lecturer Rachel Dooley. “The students recently saw Richard in a production of The Cherry Orchard at Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre and they were really inspired by that, and by the Q&A he conducted with them afterwards.”
Richard will work with the students on a piece featuring the work of contemporary Welsh playwright Gary Owen, with performances taking place in the Arts Wing at the Grand Theatre on 15 and 16 February 2018.
“I’m incredibly excited to be collaborating with students from Gower College Swansea and it’s wonderful to be returning to the Grand Theatre, where my career began,” says Richard. “I cannot wait to get started!”
