Leah levels up learning: Wins the*gamehers Award for Impact Through Education

Gower College Swansea (GCS) is proud to announce that Leah Griffiths, our PGCE student and lecturer within our learning area of Business and Technology, has been named a winner in the 2025 the*gamehers Awards, recognised in the ‘Impact Through Education’ category.

Leah's win places her among 100 women honoured globally by the*gamehers, an organisation dedicated to amplifying the voices and achievements of women and femme-identifying persons in the gaming industry.

Gower College Swansea Celebrates Sporting Excellence at Annual Awards Evening

It was a night of celebration and pride as students from Gower College Swansea’s Sports Academies gathered at the Village Hotel for their annual Sports Awards. The evening honoured the hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievements of student-athletes across a range of sports.

In attendance were teams from men’s rugby and football, as well as women’s football and netball, with a variety of awards presented to recognise individual and team successes throughout the year.

Join us at our dedicated stand (97-98) at Urdd National Eisteddfod, Margam Park next week, where you’ll have the chance to interact with students and staff, discover the wide variety of courses we offer, and dive into fun hands-on activities.

Kelly Fountain appointed Chief Executive Officer of Gower College Swansea

One of Wales’ largest further education colleges, Gower College Swansea, has appointed Kelly Fountain as its new Chief Executive Officer.  

Kelly, who has served as the College’s Principal since January 2024, will transition into her new role following the retirement of current CEO Mark Jones MBE, this summer.  

The appointment comes as the College prepares to bid a fond farewell to Mark Jones, MBE, whose dedicated service as CEO has ensured the College’s success and strategic direction over the last 12 years.

Rugby legend Jonathan Davies OBE delivers management masterclass at Gower College Swansea

Gower College Swansea was delighted to welcome former international rugby player and broadcaster Jonathan Davies OBE, to Sketty Hall Business School as part of its management masterclass series.

The event, which was hosted by the College’s Business Development Consultant and former Wales rugby international, Stuart Davies, brought together staff and leading figures from the local business community for a rare opportunity to gain first-hand insight from one of Wales’ most respected sporting figures.

FE Multisport Duathlon 2025 – a fantastic run in the sun!

Staff and students from Gower College Swansea braved the heat and sunshine to take part in the fourth FE Multisport Duathlon at Pembrey Country Park.

This fantastic event is part of Colleges Wales FE Multisport initiative and gives people of all fitness levels an opportunity to participate in competitive and active events.

Participants ranged from Independent Living Skills (ILS) learners enjoying a group activity challenge for the first time through to students and staff competing at elite level.
