College launches Teaching Academy 2022
Ever wondered what it would be like to be part of an award-winning team, teaching at a sector-leading further education College?
A College where A Level results consistently outperform the Welsh national average in the top grades, where vocational students represent Wales at skills competitions across the globe, and where teaching staff have themselves brought home medals of distinction?
If the answer is yes, then 2022 could be the year you get the chance to find out!

The Welsh Government's First Minister Mark Drakeford recently confirmed that from Friday 28 January, Wales will move to alert level zero, unless the public health situation changes for the worse.
But what does this mean for the College?
During the autumn term, we have had consistently low numbers of cases among our student community.
This has been a result of the safety measures we have in place and your cooperation in ensuring that we all work together to disrupt the transmission of the virus.
Update from Principal, Mark Jones (21 January)
Currently there are many very different messages in the media about covid restrictions that can be very confusing – and so I thought that it may be useful to clarify the College’s position.
At this time, there are no proposals for any changes within the College or indeed within any education institution in Wales. Within Swansea, the risk of infection remains high and we all need to continue to remain vigilant.
Message from the Principal – Thursday 13 January
It’s been a week already since we welcomed you all back to campus.
I therefore wanted to thank you for not only your patience and understanding, but your willingness to comply with the safety measures we have in place and your ongoing commitment to your studies.
As you know it has been a challenging few years, but we are committed to ensuring we can deliver as much face to face teaching as possible so that you have the best experience.
Start of term arrangements for employers and work based providers
We are looking forward to welcoming all of our learners back to College.
Working closely within the guidance provided by both Welsh Government and our local public health team in Swansea, we will be continuing to prioritise face to face teaching as much as possible, whilst taking a positive approach to reducing any transmission of the virus.
College based learning
Delivery/day release for learners will remain the same unless instructed by College staff.
Start of term arrangements – January 2022
Tomorrow, Thursday 6 January we will be welcoming all of our students back to College.
Working closely within the guidance provided by both Welsh Government and our local public health team in Swansea, we will be continuing to prioritise face to face teaching as much as possible, whilst taking a positive approach to reducing any transmission of the virus.
Contact groups
For all students we will be returning to the contact group model that we used successfully in 2020.
Update for students and parents – 30 December 2021
This morning College managers met to discuss the return to College plans for next week.
A number of options were considered in anticipation of the new Welsh Government guidelines, which are expected later today and tomorrow.
Until we receive the updated government advice our most recent plans remain in place and are as follows:
Teaching and learning
There will be no teaching taking place on either Tuesday 4 or Wednesday 5 January.

A Gower College Swansea apprenticeship student, Ryan Williams, has been chosen as one of 12 apprenticeship ambassadors to inspire others to use their Welsh language skills at their apprenticeship workplaces.

As we approach the end of term, we wanted to take this opportunity to reflect and say a huge well done to you all for your hard work this year.
I am sure you will join me in thanking your teaching and support teams who have all helped to ensure you have been able to keep learning.
We have continued to follow Welsh Government guidance in terms of covid-19 safety measures, and will continue to do this into the future.
