Scaling the ALPS: Sharing best practice for adult education in Swansea

Members of the Adult Learning Partnership Swansea (ALPS) recently met at Gower College Swansea’s Llwyn y Bryn Campus for a sharing best practice event.

Geology rocks for A Level student Micah

A fascination with biology and an interest in animals were what set Gower College Swansea student Micah Mainwaring on the career path to becoming a palaeontologist.

Micah is currently studying A Levels in biology, geology, maths and drama at the Gorseinon Campus.

They are particularly interested in palaeobiology, which focuses on the ecology and life of prehistoric creatures.

Government and Politics students meet First Minister

Students at Gower College Swansea welcomed a very special visitor recently – the First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford.

Around 60 students, the vast majority of whom are studying on the A Level Government and Politics course, gathered at the Gorseinon Campus to hear the First Minister give a fascinating talk about his life in politics.

“This was an incredible opportunity for our learners to hear directly from the First Minister about his career path and some of his experiences during his time in office,” says Curriculum Leader, Scott Evans.

Gower College Swansea is delighted to continue taking part in the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) with a suite of virtual masterclasses fronted by high profile industry leaders over the next six months.

The Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) is a Welsh Government funded initiative that supports colleges in Wales with the delivery of activities designed to accelerate and build expertise for staff and increase learner knowledge and learning experience.

Gower College Swansea Electronic Engineering Students Shine in WorldSkills UK National Finals

In a remarkable display of skill and dedication, two Electronic Engineering students from Gower College Swansea have secured medals in this year's WorldSkills UK (WSUK) National Finals.

Faroz Shahrokh, Rhys Lock, and Tarran Spooner, all pursuing the L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies (Electronics pathway) at the Tycoch Campus, earned coveted spots in the Industrial Electronics finals following a successful initial round. At the finals, Tarran won Gold, while Faroz scooped Silver!
