GCS Owls Soar to Victory

Dominating the UK Winter Esports Groups for the Second Year Running

The Gower College Swansea Owls Esports teams have done it again!

For the second consecutive year, the teams representing Valorant, Rocket League and Overwatch in the British Esports Student Championships have emerged victorious and undefeated in their respective UK Winter group stages, solidifying their position at the top of their leagues.

The British Esports Student Championships, a pinnacle in the realm of competitive gaming for school and college students, has over 700 teams and 3,000 players from across the UK, battling it out in various Esports titles.

This remarkable achievement highlights the skill, dedication and teamwork that defines the GCS Owls, making them a powerhouse in the UK college Esports scene.

In addition, the Owls have been victorious in the Rocket League and Valorant finals of the Welsh Schools & College Esports Cups, seeing off Cwm Rhymni and the Tydfil Titans respectively.

“We are delighted to win the trophy,” says Dan Davies, Esports lecturer. “The Tydfil Tytans gave us tremendous games but credit to our players - they were fantastic. The tournament has highlighted the growing prominence of Esports and Valorant in education, and we are immensely grateful to Esports Wales for putting on this competition.”
