An IT student from Gower College Swansea has taken second place at the UK Skills Competition in Advanced Web Design which took place recently at Coleg Sir Gar.
Jordan James, who is studying a Level 3 Diploma in Information Technology at the Gorseinon campus, was tasked with producing a website to promote Wales as a tourist destination.
The website had to include visually appealing pages on places to eat, accommodation options and places of local interest, making use of a range of languages such as Bootstrap, JQuery, HTML and CSS, and featuring relevant images on a slider.
Also taking part was Matthew John who is studying towards a HND in Computer and Information Systems – a course the College offers in partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
“Both Jordan and Matthew performed very well throughout the competition, especially when you consider they only had five hours to complete their websites,” says Curriculum Leader Adrian Hone.
