Today we finally set out on our trip to Kenya after what has been a particularly challenging week in the country. We are so glad that the protests have reduced and, in some parts of the country, stopped altogether.
From a College point of view we have spent the past 48 hours working closely with our partners and hosts, African Adventures, to rigorously test their processes and procedures in light of the recent protests, although the school we are visiting is a long way away from any of the major cities.
Preparing for trips such as this takes a huge amount of work and we not only want to thank the staff and students on the trip but staff from across the College who have helped with the preparations.
We also want to thank the local schools, community groups and sports clubs that have provided clothes, books, and teaching equipment etc for our friends in Kenya. We have 14 bags, each of which weighs over 20kg!
Our particular thanks to those organisations who have provided sponsorship, including:
Amroc Heating Services Ltd;
AtkinsRéalis;
Bardic Construction Ltd;
Eurotech Roofing;
GJ Willet and Son Ltd;
Gower College Swansea;
RW Learning;
Swansea University;
Taith (Welsh Government);
University of Wales Trinity Saint David
If you want to keep up to date with our adventures then we will be posting photos and videos every day on social media
