Overview

Current fire legislation puts the onus on employers as the responsible person to assess and respond to fire risks. NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management is designed to help organisations meet their responsibilities under this new legislation.

Suitable for managers and supervisory staff who must ensure their organisations meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation, the qualification will equip holders to undertake fire risk assessments of most low risk workplaces, and identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures required.

The qualification is also suitable for those moving into fire advisory roles. 

Key information

The qualification will consist of five tutorials, a revision day, and an FSC1 exam. An FSC2 submission is required no later than 10 days after the final exam. 

Units

The qualification covers units FSC1 and FSC2, titled Fire Safety and Risk Management, and includes:

  • Principles of fire and explosions: their causes and methods of prevention
  • Principles of means of escape: considering the contributory factors of the building and its contents/usage
  • Fire ask assessment process
  • Legislation relevant to fire

The qualification consists of an FSC1 exam as well as a practical assessment for FSC2.
