Update from Principal, Mark Jones (21 January)

Currently there are many very different messages in the media about covid restrictions that can be very confusing – and so I thought that it may be useful to clarify the College’s position.

At this time, there are no proposals for any changes within the College or indeed within any education institution in Wales. Within Swansea, the risk of infection remains high and we all need to continue to remain vigilant.

Should there be proposed changes over the coming weeks, then we will make everyone aware of what this means as quickly as we possibly can. However, even if there are changes within the wider restrictions, we do not believe they will result in many changes in terms of our daily operations.

In the meantime, it is important that we all continue to follow our current measures to ensure everyone’s safety:

  • Please continue to wear your face covering in all areas of the College, including classrooms
  • Please continue to wash and sanitise your hands regularly
  • Please continue to keep a safe distance from others
  • Please continue to follow the contact group model that is currently in place for all students
  • Please continue to use lateral flow devices three times per week as per Welsh Government guidance
  • Please do not attend College if you have any covid symptoms and arrange a PCR test as soon as possible.

We understand that it can feel frustrating that life isn’t yet back to normal, but we all have to work together and hopefully, in the not too distance future, things may start to move that way.

Take care
Mark Jones, Principal
