Electronic Engineering students from Gower College Swansea scooped two of the top three prizes at the recent Skills Competition Wales finals (Industrial Electronics).
Taking home the Gold was Rhys Watts, closely followed by Ben Lewis with a Silver - both students are on Level 3 courses at the Tycoch Campus.
Daniel Holmes from Coleg Cambria was placed third.
The Skills Competition Wales finals were held over two days, with the Southern region hosted by Gower College Swansea and the Northern region competitors gathering at Coleg Cambria.
Each competitor faced seven hours of intensive challenges - including electronic construction, a theory test, prototyping and fault finding – which would have required incredible levels of concentration.
“This competition placing is a wonderful achievement, not just for Rhys and Ben but for the entire Electronic Engineering teaching team,” says Curriculum Leader Steve Williams.
This latest success follows hot on the heels of fellow student Jamie Skyrme who took Gold at the WorldSkills UK LIVE National Finals in November 2018.
