Staff at the Broadway Hair, Beauty and Holistic Centre recently enjoyed a Welsh Celebration Day as part of inset week.
Kicking off the day with a lot of laughter were comedians Ignacio Lopez and Daniel Glyn. They were followed by a session on Welsh place names with Bethan Mair, and a Welsh-themed treasure hunt. For the latter, staff used a dictionary app to search for the English versions of keywords used in a salon – a little task they can now adapt for their students.
After a lunch featuring a delicious array of local produce, a training session from Sgiliaith demonstrated to staff how they can introduce more of the Welsh language into their sessions. Closing the day with a medley of Welsh songs was performer Tara Ramm.
“This was a fantastic, fun and positive way to finish the term,” says Bilingual Champion Anna Davies. “Everyone made an individual pledge towards helping promote the Welsh language in the new academic year - all of which are on display in the Broadway Centre.”
