Talented artists, photographers and designers from Gower College Swansea have celebrated the end of the academic year with a series of exhibitions across the city.

The A Level Art and Design showcase took place at the Swansea Grand Theatre’s Arts Wing and featured the work of students on a range of courses including textile design, graphic communication, fine art and photography, which are all taught at the Gorseinon campus.

The event was also an opportunity to congratulate the students who won prizes at the recent Urdd Eisteddfod. They were:

The College’s vocational art students from the Llwyn y Bryn campus have also exhibited their final pieces at venues across Swansea.

First up were the Foundation Diploma Art and Design students, 80% of whom are progressing directly onto higher education after leaving college. Their exhibition – which took in such topical issues as equality, identity and the environment - was attended on the opening night by Tonia Antoniazzi, Labour MP for Gower.

Elsewhere Level 3 Art, Design and Photography students held their exhibition within the new atrium at the Tycoch campus and then it was back to the Grand Theatre for the Excellence in Art and Design showcase (delivered in partnership with the Swansea College of Art) and the Schools Art Network show which includes the work of pupils from 19 secondary schools and sixth forms across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.

Many of these Gower College Swansea students are now heading for top universities across the UK including RADA, the University of Brighton, UWE Bristol and Bath Spa University.
