Two Tycoch-based Engineering Technology students have attended the 2017 IET South Wales Prestige Lecture and Dinner at the Liberty Stadium.
Evelyn O’Brien and Mateus Ligocki, who both study the BTEC Level 3 course at the Tycoch campus, were selected from over 50 full time students to attend this prestigious event, which was hosted by the IET Wales South West Local Network.
The guest speaker was Professor Julie Williams CBE, Chief Scientific Adviser for Wales, who spoke on the topic of "Science for Wales".
Julie spoke about Wales’ performance in science, technology and engineering and, as part of this, she highlighted the increasing role that women are playing both in terms of research and industrial developments – working to support and enhance the education, recruitment, retention and promotion of girls and women, making best use of all our talent to boost Wales’ economy and reputation in research.
The students were accompanied by Curriculum Leader Coral Planas and tutor Kevin McNamara
“This was a fantastic opportunity for Evie and Matty to meet some very interesting and inspirational engineers,” says Coral.
