A team of students from Gower College Swansea has scooped the Ian Bennett Award at the Global Enterprise Challenge Grand Final in Cardiff.
Vocational Creative Media students Kieran Palfrey, Talisha Weston and Oliver Draper and A Level students Brad David, Rhys Cozens, Shazia Ali and Josh David-Reed represented the college at the Wales Millennium Centre.
The Ian Bennett Award is given to the team voted as the 'most fun, most helpful and most supportive' by other students over the two day challenge.
In preparation for the final event, the students worked closely with the college’s Enterprise Officer Lucy Turtle and local entrepreneur and role model Ben Room, who gave the group tips on marketing, business acumen and presentation skills.
"It was absolutely awesome working with, and helping, such a dedicated, innovative and inspiring group of young people," says Ben.
The late Ian Bennett was the Enterprise Champion at Coleg Sir Gar. He was such an inspirational and supportive figure that the Welsh Government decided to award a prize each year in his name to one group of students.
The Global Enterprise Challenge is a Welsh Government endorsed scheme designed to encourage entrepreneurial spirit and vision among young people.
