Aspiring writers at Gower College Swansea had a chance this week to meet with professionals already working in the industry.
The Write 2 Aspire workshop was organised by the college’s Enterprise team. Guests included South Wales Evening Post editor Jonathan Roberts, writer Paul Durden, playwright Ioan Hefin, novelist Cal Smyth and ex-student Mollie Kneath who is now studying English in London.
“We are gearing up for Global Enterprise Week and this masterclass workshop was a fantastic taster for the students,” says Enterprise Project Officer Lucy Turtle. “This was a chance for them to meet with inspirational writers and receive some priceless insights from within the industry and a heads-up on what sorts of opportunities are available. It was also ideal for anyone thinking of studying English at university.”
The workshop followed a ‘speed dating’ style format with students also being in with a chance to win afternoon tea with the speakers.
This Enterprise activity was part-funded by the Welsh Government.
