Gower College Swansea CEO, Mark Jones has recently collected his MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his outstanding contributions to education.
Mark received the prestigious accolade as part of the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours list and was formally presented with the award by HRH The Princess Royal during a ceremony at Windsor Castle last month.
The MBE recognises Mark’s significant impact on the educational sector, both in Wales and across the UK. Reflecting on the honour, Mark said: “Receiving this award came as a complete surprise, and I’m deeply humbled.
“This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of the dedicated staff and students at Gower College Swansea, who work tirelessly to make a difference every day.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the kind messages of support I’ve received since the announcement in June. Those messages have been one of the real highlights of this experience.”
Meirion Howells, Chair of the College’s Corporation Board, also expressed pride in Mark’s achievement: “We are thrilled that Mark’s remarkable contributions to education have been recognised with an MBE. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in the success of the College, and on behalf of everyone at Gower College Swansea, I extend our warmest congratulations.
