Staff party marks end of successful academic year

Staff at Gower College Swansea were invited to a special celebration event at Sketty Hall Business School on 28 June.

After another incredibly busy year, this was a chance for teaching and support staff from across all campuses to relax for a few hours and enjoy each other’s company.

Entertainment was provided by the Swansea Ukelele Band and singer Michael Roberts, who got everyone up dancing, and magician Dorian who baffled partygoers with a variety of tricks.

There was also a photo booth and a variety of delicious food, from sizzling hog roast to vegan treats to ice cream.

As well as an outstanding Estyn inspection for its Work Based Learning provision, the past academic year has seen the College scoop a number of high profile awards including:

Pearson National Teaching Awards – Silver for FE Team of the Year (Landscaping and Eco-Construction)
InsideOut Awards - People Leader of the Year Award (Sarah King) and Social Impact Award (Work Based Learning Team)
Gold CyberFirst Award
British HR Awards - Public Sector Organisation of the Year
College Marketing Network’s FE First Awards - Silver for Social Media and Digital
Impact NUS Wales - Members Engagement of the Year and FE Union of the Year
Association of College’s Beacon Awards - AoC Award for Widening Participation

“The afternoon was a real opportunity to thank our amazing staff, celebrate as a united team and reflect and enjoy some time together at the end of a very successful academic year,” says Vice Principal for People and Wellbeing, Sarah King.
