Student artists give children's unit a colourful new look
Aspiring artists have been brushing up on their skills by sprucing up a new children’s unit in Morriston Hospital.
Students at Gower College Swansea have put their imagination and creativity to the test by giving the Children’s Emergency Unit (CEU) a new look with specific designs for certain areas of the department.
As part of the project, the A-Level art students have been able to use it as a key part of their Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales qualification.

Gower College Swansea wins at the 2025 Wales STEM Awards
Gower College Swansea has been recognised for its contribution to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Wales, winning the award for Educational Programme of the Year (Public Sector).
The winners of the Wales STEM Awards 2025 were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony hosted by broadcaster Lucy Owen. Held at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, the event celebrated outstanding achievements across STEM, recognising the trailblazing individuals and organisations driving innovation and making significant contributions to the sector in Wales.
Best Newcomer award for Tom
A member of Gower College Swansea staff has scooped an award from the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM).
Thomas Maddock, who is an Estates Manager at the College, took home the Newcomer of the Year Award at a glittering ceremony hosted in London by Gabby Logan MBE.
The IWFM is the professional body for workplace and facilities practitioners.

Students take the first step to top universities
Hundreds of young learners were recently invited to attend the launch of the Swansea Seren Hub for 2025/26, where they were able to find out more about the skills needed to apply to the UK’s top universities.
The event, led by Gower College Swansea and Swansea University and held at the Great Hall on the latter’s Bay Campus, was attended by over 300 students from the College and local sixth form schools, many of whom were joined by their parents and guardians.

Hard Hats and Hot Coffee: Building the Future Together
Hard hats, hot coffee, and a room full of industry voices came together at Gower College Swansea’s Sketty Hall Business School for an event focused on shaping the future of the built environment.
The College welcomed employers from the region including Morganstone, Andrew Scott, Cyfle, CP Engineering, James Brothers Co, and Swansea Council, alongside sector specialists, to connect, share insights, and influence the direction of construction and the built environment training across Wales.

Gower College Swansea has been named as one of the top UK state schools / colleges for getting young people into Cambridge and Oxford universities.
The Daily Mail has published a list of the Top 30 UK schools and colleges bridging the gap for state school students to access elite universities, based on 2024 figures.
“We are absolutely delighted to have made the Top 30 list and we continue to go from strength to strength in 2025,” says Interim Principal, Paul Kift.

Esports rugby tournament launches at College
Gower College Swansea has hosted the official launch of an exciting Esports tournament.
The Rugby 25 tournament, which is organised by Esports Wales in partnership with the WRU, will encourage learners from schools and colleges to compete in fast-paced, strategic rugby match ups.
The tournament highlights the growing partnership between the WRU and Esports Wales, offering students a chance to develop their skills, gain recognition and compete at a high level in the expanding world of Esports.
