As you are aware, the Welsh Government have now lifted most covid-19 restrictions and we are slowly moving back to life pre-pandemic.
However, the advice to both schools and colleges is to continue to operate with the health and safety measures we already have in place. This will help to ensure we can keep everyone learning.
Symptoms of covid
If a member of staff or a student displays symptoms of covid, then the advice is to undertake a lateral flow test before coming into College and, as such, we strongly encourage both staff and students to keep a small supply of lateral flow tests at home.
Lateral flow tests are available for both staff and students from the College libraries at Gorseinon and Tycoch campuses and reception areas at Llwyn y Bryn Campus, Sketty Hall and the Employment Hub on the Kingsway.
If a member of staff or a student tests positive for covid, then they must self-isolate immediately and follow the Welsh Government guidance for self-isolation. This also includes informing the College:
Staff: Facility office and/or Human Resources
Students: Covid administrator covid@gowercollegeswansea.ac.uk
Also refer to GCS Covid Weekly Bulletin.
Ongoing safety measures
We are encouraging both staff and students to continue to:
- Wash and sanitise their hands
- Wear a face covering when in communal areas (unless exempt)
- Maintain a physical distance from others.
Our aim is to ensure we can maintain the high quality of teaching and learning we have been able to provide throughout the past two years, as well as keep you safe whilst on campus.
