Students rise to Chemistry Olympiad challenge

A Level Chemistry students at Gower College Swansea have performed exceptionally well at this year’s Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad.

The annual event is open to second year A Level students who are expected to achieve grades of A or A*in their exams, and is a challenging exercise that truly stretches the most committed young chemists.

“In light of this, we are immensely proud that three of our six candidates - Natasha Makukha, Isabel Davies and James Osbourne - achieved Silver certificates and one - Joshua Morris - achieved a Bronze,” says lecturer Paul Mouncher. “Ryan John and Rowena Startin also performed incredibly well, everyone put a tremendous effort into the two hour paper that constituted Round One of the Olympiad and everyone was determined to complete the challenge.”
