Electronic Engineering students from Gower College Swansea have taken part in a WorldSkills UK regional heat at the Tycoch Campus.
The regional heat, part of the WorldSkills competition framework and organised in partnership with SEMTA, comprised three practical activities - electronic construction, test and measurement, fault finding – and a theory test.
The top students from this event will go forward to the next stage in the competition, with the ultimate goal being selection to represent Wales and the UK on the global stage.
“Taking part in these competitions provides students with a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills and their ability to focus and work under pressure to meet deadlines,” says Curriculum Leader Steve Williams.
“To be involved with the WorldSkills process is a real privilege – not only does it allow learners to gain confidence within the College environment it also helps to raise their aspirations and get them thinking about how they can adapt their skills in readiness for working in the industry, not just in the UK but further afield too.”
