Message from the Principal  – Thursday 13 January

It’s been a week already since we welcomed you all back to campus.

I therefore wanted to thank you for not only your patience and understanding, but your willingness to comply with the safety measures we have in place and your ongoing commitment to your studies.

As you know it has been a challenging few years, but we are committed to ensuring we can deliver as much face to face teaching as possible so that you have the best experience.

This continues to be our approach, which is why all our students are now back on campus. However, we still have a responsibility to both you and our staff to disrupt the transmission of the virus, which is why we need to operate with the contact group model that we used successfully last year.

We understand that this isn’t perfect, especially if your friends are in different groups, but we hope that, in time, we can move away from this model.

Based on the first week back, this model is working well. The majority of courses and exams are being delivered face to face and the number of students and staff absences are well below what we anticipated and what we are seeing in other organisations and parts of the country.

We are fully committed to ensuring your safety whilst at College. This is why we are encouraging you to get vaccinated and to continue to take lateral flow tests regularly. Vaccines are our best defence against the virus. If you would like more info on the vaccinations, please visit this link to Public Health Wales.

Finally, I just wanted to thank you once again for helping us to play our part in helping to keep our College community safe.

Thank you and well done

Mark Jones, Principal
