Students from Gower College Swansea are heading to Cardiff next week to compete against all the other colleges in Wales for the Global Enterprise Challenge 2015.
Vocational Creative Media students Kieran Palfrey, Talisha Weston, Oliver Draper and A Level students Brad David, Rhys Cozens, Shazia Ali and Josh David-Reed were the winning team from the Gorseinon campus.
The Global Enterprise Challenge is a Welsh Government endorsed scheme designed to encourage entrepreneurial spirit and vision among young people.
Once they reach Cardiff, the students will have 24 hours to develop a business idea, a detailed business plan and a cash flow proposal before they return the following day to present their final proposition to a panel of experts.
In preparation for this event, they have been working closely with the college’s Enterprise Officer Lucy Turtle and local entrepreneur and role model Ben Room, who have been giving the group tips on marketing, business acumen and presentation skills.
"It has been absolutely awesome working with, and helping, such a dedicated, innovative and inspiring group of young people," says Ben. "I wish them all the best in the Wales final and I know - win or lose - they will give it their best shot."
"The finalists have been busy preparing for the final - they are driven, mature and clearly have the ability to go on to run businesses in the future, so I’m really excited for them to represent the college in Cardiff next week," adds Lucy.
The Global Enterprise Challenge Final will take place on 10 and 11 March in the Wales Millennium Centre.
