The Adult Learning Partnership Swansea (ALPS) is thrilled to announce the launch of its new website (Link to new ALPS Website), designed to be a centralised hub for adult learners in the local area. This website lists and links to the wide range of educational opportunities on offer, provided by the collaborative efforts of key organisations in adult education.
ALPS, which is funded by Welsh Government, brings together prominent institutions dedicated to adult learning including Adult Learning Wales, Swansea Council Lifelong Learning, Gower College Swansea, Learn Welsh - Swansea Bay Region, Swansea University, Swansea Council for Voluntary Service, and University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
This partnership strives to provide accessible, high-quality education that aligns with the needs and aspirations of the community, including a focus on courses that can be delivered through the medium of Welsh.
"As a partnership, we are committed to providing the most diverse range of high-quality learning experiences for adults across Swansea, aiming to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for both personal and professional success,” says Chair of the Adult Learner Partnership Swansea and Principal and CEO of Gower College Swansea, Mark Jones.
“Our new website will provide access to the courses delivered and support available across all partners and is further evidence of our strong commitment to working together."
“Adult Learning Wales is a key member of ALPS, and is delighted to be involved in the creation of the partnership website,” says Beth John, Adult Learning Wales Regional Manager for South West and Mid Wales.
“The website will function as a one-stop shop for all people in Swansea and will provide information on the individual delivery providers and partners. Learners will be able to see the breadth of adult learning provision available in Swansea - from Pre-Entry to Level 6 - and it will hopefully inspire new learners to come on board and take that next step in their learning journey.
“For those who are wishing to re-engage in learning, maybe after a period of time away from study, much information, support and advice will be found on the pages of the website. All delivery providers are looking forward to welcoming a host of new learners through interaction and engagement with the website.”
“Navigating offers across different agencies can be an initial barrier to accessing learning opportunities,” says Swansea Council for Voluntary Service (SCVS) Director, Amanda Carr.
“The partnership has worked hard to bring information together in one place, in a way that enables community members looking for information and opportunities and to easily see what is available across the different agencies.”
“Swansea Council’s Lifelong Learning Service is proud to be one of the founder members of the Adult Learning Partnership Swansea,” says Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Alyson Anthony.
“The ALPS website builds on the achievements of this hugely successful partnership and provides one access point for all adult community learning provision. The partnership continues to celebrate its success with annual learning festivals open to all, showcasing the wealth of provision available. The festivals also celebrate Swansea’s status as a Learning City.
“The timing of the launch is perfect as enrolment for our free spring lifelong learning programme opens on Monday 4 and Monday 11 December.”
“It gives Learn Welsh Swansea Bay Region (LWSBR) great pleasure to be part of this new website development, servicing the communities in Swansea and surrounding areas,” says Iestyn Llwyd, Head of Learning of LWSBR.
“The platform will be able to inspire those interested in learning Welsh to become part of the partnership’s vibrant learning community by directing them to the range of local and online courses available at different levels.”
