A member of Gower College Swansea staff has scooped an award from the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM).
Thomas Maddock, who is an Estates Manager at the College, took home the Newcomer of the Year Award at a glittering ceremony hosted in London by Gabby Logan MBE.
The IWFM is the professional body for workplace and facilities practitioners.
The Newcomer award aims to uncover exceptional new talent in the profession, identifying individuals who have made a significant impact on the provision of workplace and facilities management services within the first three years since joining the profession.
“Since stepping into the world of facilities management, I’ve fallen in love with the industry,” says Tom. “That passion has fuelled my commitment to both my work and personal development. To be recognised so early in my career, especially within such a diverse and talented field, is one of my proudest achievements to date.
“I’d like to thank the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management for this incredible honour and for the work they do in championing excellence across our profession.
“This award is not only a personal milestone but also a reflection of the incredible support and opportunities I’ve received from my organisation and team. Their encouragement has been instrumental in my growth and I’m grateful to be part of a workplace that champions development, ambition and inclusion.”
Tom joined the College in December 2022 as an Estates Officer and was promoted the following year to his current position of Estates Manager (Hard Facilities).
