Letting and Managing Residential Properties (CIH) Level 3 - Qualification
Overview
This course is a Level 3 vocationally related qualification for the housing sector, regulated by Ofqual and Qualifications Wales.
The CIH Level 3 Certificate in Letting and Managing Residential Property provides learners with the knowledge and understanding of key areas in managing and letting property, to support entry into and progression in roles such as landlord, or property and housing manager.
The qualification aims to:
- Provide the knowledge required to work in a front-line role in letting and managing residential property
- Provide the knowledge to support individuals working in letting and managing residential property and related areas.
Key information
A minimum expectation of an achieved GCSE English at grades C or above.
Also:
- Successful completion of the Letting and Managing Residential Properties Level 2 qualification, or:
- Industry experience of two years or more in a letting and managing role, or equivalent.
The qualification will be delivered through a range of methods, which can include:
- Face-to-face sessions in classes based at Tycoch Campus
- Remote sessions held via Microsoft Teams.
Learners are required to attend six workshops, ranging between three to four hours each. Learners will complete a range of in-class and/or research tasks to help them complete the assignments set for each unit; to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding as well as their competence in practice.
A range of assessment methods can be used such as:
- Written assignments
- Oral questioning/professional discussion.
The qualification consists of five mandatory units:
- Letting residential properties (R/651/0075)
- Property standards for residential properties (T/651/0076 30 40 11 3)
- Tenancy management for residential property (Y/651/0077 30 40 12 3)
- Ending tenancies of residential property (A/651/0078 22 30 14 3)
- Professional practice for the private rented sector (D/651/0079).
Learners can progress into employment, training and apprenticeships in roles in the field of Housing with Gower College Swansea. This includes progression to the Level 4 certificate or Apprenticeship in Housing, which is suitable for Managers, Senior Team, and those with at least five years industry experience.
Other progression routes could include administration, finance, financial services, customer service, human resources, advice and guidance and other related areas in the business sector.
