Practical Mechanical Engineering PEO Engineering Technology Level 2 - Apprenticeship
Overview
The Level 2 apprenticeship is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in engineering principles and practical skills. Students will gain hands on experience and theoretical knowledge in areas such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and manufacturing processes.
Key information
- Four GCSEs at grade D or above, plus a C in either English Language or Mathematics.
- Apprentices must secure their own full-time employment in a relevant sector before applying for the course
- Learners are required to attend an interview.
This one year course has been designed to give you knowledge and practical skills in the following areas:
- Welding
- Fabrication
- Lathe work and turning
- Milling
- Drilling
- Pneumatics
- Engineering drawing
- CAD
- Testing and inspection
- Non destructive testing.
It includes a variety of practical units giving you an opportunity to find what areas of engineering suit you best.
Progression to the Level 3 full-time programme or the Engineering apprenticeship route and potentially HNC/HND.
The following items are essential equipment for completion of the course:
- Safety footwear (Steel toe cap)
- Flame retardant overalls
- Scientific calculator
- Pens
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Rubber
- Note pad (lined and graph paper).
