Overview
Asbestos Awareness training is required to be given to employees whose work could expose them to asbestos, in particular all demolition workers and workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades, where their work will disturb the fabric of a building.
Upon completion of the courses, learners will:
- Have an increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos, as well as its impact of health
- Be familiar with the types, uses and likely occurrences of asbestos in buildings, and where appropriate items of plant
- Know how to avoid the risks from asbestos
- Understand where to obtain information on asbestos in premises prior to commencing work
- Be aware of what to do if suspicious materials are found
- Understand how to use appropriate workplace precautions
- Understand how to undertake work activities in a safe manner, without causing risk to themselves or others
- Have an awareness of the key aspects of asbestos regulations
Key information
Learners should be familiar with existing HSE guidance for asbestos.
This course is delivered on a bespoke basis to organisations, and requires a group booking of approximately eight learners for a fee of £50 per person, VAT exempt.
Delivery can be at the College or your own work premises.
