Gower College Swansea aims to be an employer of choice in the region and as such we have developed a range of excellent staff benefits including:
All business support staff will receive 28 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays.
Teaching staff will receive 46 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays.
All staff will also receive an additional five efficiency days to cover the Christmas closure period.
After five years’ service, staff are awarded with four additional annual leave days.
The College is committed to the aspirational living wage, ensuring all staff are paid a minimum of £12.00 an hour.
All salaries are offered on a salary scale with annual incremental progression. Salary awards are negotiated nationally so staff will receive an annual pay award ensuring our salaries remain competitive.
We enrol all our staff onto one of two pension schemes: the Teacher’s Pension Scheme or the Local Government Pension Scheme. Both schemes are index linked career average schemes with the College making significant contributions. Both schemes have the added advantage of life insurance benefits and ill health retirement benefits.
We run annual pension seminars and mid-career financial planning seminars to help you plan for and get the most out of retirement.
The College takes the wellbeing of its staff extremely seriously and is proud to have achieved Bronze, Silver, and Gold Corporate Health Awards.
Wellbeing events and campaigns are continuously run throughout the year, including On Your Feet Britain, Stop Smoking Event, Breast Cancer Awareness, and Men’s Health Week.
All staff have access to an Employee Assistance Programme which provides a 24/7 counselling service and access to a legal helpline.
We also currently provide a free annual subscription to the Headspace Mindfulness app.
The Sport Centre at Tycoch has a fully equipped conditioning studio boasting tread climbers, treadmills, bicycles, free weights, rowing machines and elliptical trainers.

All of this is offered for an extremely competitive annual membership fee of £60 per year.
