Sport Level 3 - Extended Diploma
Overview
On this two year course you will focus on the study of the human body in sport, coaching skills and fitness instruction. There is also an emphasis on improving and developing sport within society.
You will need a wide range of sporting interests and enjoy taking part in all activities. As many study units are related to leadership and coaching, you should also be confident to work with peers and young children in schools.

Key information
Five GCSE’s at grade C or above including English and Maths or the Level 2 qualification in Sport or Public Services (with a Merit profile).
You will be assessed in various ways including written assignments, presentations, leaflets, fact sheets, practical coaching, small reports and professional discussions.
Elements of this course can be delivered through the medium of Welsh.
Staying with GCS, you could progress on to the Foundation Degree in Sports Development and Management
Common university courses include sport and PE, leisure management studies, sports coaching, sporting development and teaching PE.

Students will undertake additional vocationally relevant qualifications such as First Aid, Sports Leaders UK, AGORED Sport units and NGB awards (for which a small extra fee may apply).
Students on this course will be charged for a DBS check which costs £40.
Students are required to purchase a college T-shirt, polo and hoodie at a cost of £70. Students will have the opportunity to purchase a college tracksuit and sports related kit linked to the sport of their choice.
Minimal costs may be required for local educational visits.
