Disability and Accessibility Support in the Libraries

We have the followings services in place to make using library resources accessible to more people:

 

Screen readers

  • Stationery and hand-held readers
  • Magnify and underline text
  • Change page colour and brightness

Available at Tycoch, Gorseinon and Llwyn y Bryn

 

Screen overlays and coloured paper

  • Borrow coloured screen overlays for use on library PCs and laptops
  • Borrow coloured paper for writing and printing

Available at Tycoch, Gorseinon and University Centre

 

Height adjustable desks

  • Height adjustable desks for wheelchair users or those who want to stand up whilst working at a PC.
  • Press a button on the front to adjust height.

Lift and ramp access

  • Lift access is available at Tycoch, Gorseinon and University Centre libraries.

Ramp access is also available for the ground floor at Gorseinon Library.

 

eBooks and eJournals

  • Go to Library Online to access eBooks and eJournals.
  • Online books and eJournals have software that allows you to change the font size and page colour.

Available at all libraries

 

1-to-1 support

  • Get in-person, online and phone support from Library staff
  • Additional support available for Autistic learners thanks to our trained Autism Mentor.
 

Books suitable for various reading levels

  • Books suitable for readers at different reading levels can be found in the @ Y Parc area.
  • Books to support English language and mathematical skills area also available.

Available at Tycoch (@Y Parc).

 

Quiet spaces

  • Neurodivergent learners can access the library break room in Tycoch when in need of a quiet moment.
  • The libraries also have designated quiet areas, where you can work without noisy disturbances.

Available at all libraries.

 

Books delivered to other campuses

  • Can't find the book you want? Use our Library Search to request books to be delivered to the campus library where you are based
