Just before the Christmas break, Gower College Swansea held a dedicated Wellbeing Day for their staff.
Over 400 staff across all campuses enjoyed the free activities which included one-to-one experiences and social activities.
The wellbeing activities included, but were not limited to:
Cold water therapy - Brave staff headed to Caswell Bay for a dip in the sea and were rewarded with a hot drink and bacon roll after they had dried off. Cold water therapy can be known to improve your circulation, boost your immune system, deepen your sleep, spike your energy levels, and reduce inflammation in your body.
Pet therapy - Noah, the Romanian rescue dog from Cariad Pet Therapy, greeted our staff with a wagging tail. Interacting with a friendly animal can assist in alleviating numerous mental and physical issues.
Massages - Indian head massages and chair massages were on offer across our campuses, allowing staff to fully relax and unwind.
Dodgeball tournament - Teams of 5 staff each pitched against each other in a knockout dodgeball tournament. Just one of the many fun fitness related activities that occurred this wellness day.
GCS Owls Formula 1 racing simulation competition - Following the launch of the new GCS Owls F1 Staff Wellbeing League, staff were able to try out their racing skills with prizes up for grabs.
"This Wellbeing Day was an opportunity for staff to relax and socialise before the end of the College term," says Director of HR, Sarah King.
"I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that organised, hosted and took part in the sessions and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive."
