Staff celebrated at special Long Service Awards

Around 70 long-serving staff at Gower College Swansea have been celebrated at a special event at Swansea.com Stadium.

The Long Service Awards were set up to recognise and thank those members of staff who have dedicated at least 20 years to Gower College Swansea.

Lecturers, managers and business support staff from across all areas of the organisation received personalised gifts before enjoying an afternoon tea.

Entertainment was provided by local harpist Bethan Sian and talented singer Abi Rankin, who is a College student.

Recognised for working at the College for over 30 years were Mark Ludlam, Denise Thorrington, Debra Dunne, Jo Attfield, Sinead Comerford-Stoneman, Chris Jones, Peter Evans, Beverley Elias and Carol Anne Jones.

“Our staff are the lynchpin of our organisation so it’s incredibly important to recognise the dedication and loyalty of those individuals who have worked with us for so long,” says Vice Principal: People and Wellbeing, Sarah King. “These members of staff have mentored and supported generations of learners and we want to give something back to them as a token of our appreciation.”
